I baked and baked and baked little hearts filled with raspberries, and oh god, does it make me happy. I don't need anything else involving Valentine's Day. I tried getting tickets to the Monster Truck ralley for it, but god damn, they are way too expensive. 71 dollars, I do NOT think so- WHERE ARE MY 10 DOLLAR SEATS?

My shoot got postponed till next week for my grant park shoot and I am pissed as hell, but whatever, today was beautiful and Jon teacher man let me fuck around with a bolex. It was nice.

Earlier this morning, the senate shot down a proprosal by George W. Bush to ban gay

marriage throughout the country.

But the numbers were close. The 48-49 vote is just 11 shy of the 60 needed to bring the

proposal up to ammend the consitution.

We cannot let this bill pass. There is no way that the major supporters of this bill are going to

just sit out and whine about not winning the vote- they're going to come back with

stronger(and more bogus) arguments, more supporters and more defensive tactics to get this

to pass.

"The Republican leadership is asking us to spend time writing bigotry into the

Constitution," said Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts, which legalized gay marriage in

2003. "A vote for it is a vote against civil unions, against domestic partnership, against all

other efforts for states to treat gays and lesbians fairly under the law."

Look back to a time of segregation. Back to a time where women did not have basic rights

under the constitution. It was not that long ago. We have to fight this like

generations did before- because banning gay marriage is just the first step to trying to "fix"

what's "wrong" with this country.

The government and the church say that homosexuals and lesbians threaten the 'traditional

family'. Well with divorce rising well over 60%, teen pregnancy increasing more by the year

and the number of people on welfare and unemployment due to a parent leaving steadily going

up, I think that the big boys need to open their eyes and realize the 'traditional' family is just

that- an outdated, ridiculous ideal that no one should have to live up to.

We all say we support gay marriage. We have the shirts, the little buttons, even the banners

on our MySpace pages.

But there's only a few of us who are out there doing our part to stop the government from

stripping our citizen's, friend's, brother's, sister's, father's, mother's rights. Simpy because

the older generation is terrified of again.

So I ask you to look back again.

If you're a women- look back to the early 1900's. You didn't have the right to vote, right to fair

payment, and basically depended on a man to survive. Your job was the raise children, make

dinner and look pretty for hubby. Wouldn't make you too happy to do that now, would it? But

through your ancestors, through your grandmothers, they marched and they protested the

violation of their human rights- and they won. Look where we are today.

If you're black- 200 years ago you were impoverished and forced to slavery. 100 years ago you

weren't treated as a whole person. 50 years ago you were pushed out and denied your rights-

due to segregation. But again, through the marching and protesting of your ancestors- your

grandfathers, your uncles, your aunts, your grandmother, your fathers and your mothers- all

that changed.

There are countless other examples I can provide of this country treating people like dirt, all

due to a bias they believe is right.

People have stood up to change the world. And now it's your turn. Do not let a tyranny walk

all over us and deny our loved ones/ourselves of basica rights.

So I'm asking you to make an effort. Call your congressmen, make petitions. Look online for

marches, for ANYTHING you can do.

Do it for the future of this country. Because we only have one shot now.
